In Apple Class, we lay the foundations for a smooth and confident transition to school. With space for just 16 children, our preschool room offers a focused, nurturing environment led by Miss Faye, our fully qualified teacher, supported by an experienced early years practitioner.

Apple Class is set up like a school classroom, helping children become familiar with routines, expectations, and learning environments they’ll encounter in Reception. At the heart of our approach is our 38-week School Readiness Programme, meticulously planned to build confidence, independence, and essential skills. This programme was rated Outstanding by Ofsted in 2024, and local primary schools consistently praise how well-prepared our children are when they start school.

Children benefit from:

• Two large classrooms designed for structured and exploratory learning
• Their own bathroom and handwashing facilities, plus nappy changing for children with SEN needs or delayed toileting
• A full nursery uniform, helping children feel part of a learning community and easing the transition to school life

Beyond the classroom, Apple Class offers a rich variety of experiences:

• Weekly swimming lessons at the local YMCA
• Library story time sessions to foster a love of books
• Outdoor learning adventures using our nursery minibus to visit places of interest
• Monthly visits to the local care home, building empathy and community connections
• Regular visits from community helpers like firefighters, police officers, and the local lollipop person

We maintain strong links with all seven primary schools in Fleetwood, and Reception teachers visit Apple Class to meet the children before they move on—ensuring a seamless, supported transition.
